Race: Nike Cross Southwest (3.107 Miles) 00:15:39, Place overall: 40

Today was the day. Warmed up, felt good. The gun went off and our whole top 5 got out perfectly. I went through the dip and let it slingshot me forward. Hit the first mile in a blistering 4:51, still feeling good. During the second mile I was duking it out with a few timp guys, both of which I would later beat. Hit 2 miles in 10:00, then Connor baller came up on me about halfway to go, and I stuck on him for about 1200m, until he pulled away and I was left with the timps again. I hit the big tree, 800m to go, and I was pushing really hard. I was worried because by this point, Josh and spence hadn't caught up yet, so I realized that I needed to go as hard as I can, cuz maybe they weren't feeling so good. Hit the last straight away and went all out from there. Passed 2 guys right after the dip and got the timps a little after that, and one more guy right before the finish. Crossed at 15:39 with a 5:08 last mile, a big PR. When i  I , I really , probably for the first time ever, felt like I had nothing left in the tank. I had turned myself inside out. But unfortunately,  it wasn't enough to secure us a spot at NXN. Very very sad. This was my last XC race as a high schooler and it did not end how we wanted, how we planned for a whole year after the same thing happened last year. But I honestly don't feel at all as bad as I thought I would if we didn't qualify. The results were weird. The team scores were Mountain vista ( who we had beat at Woodbridge) then timp, then lone peak (who we had not lost to all year), then American fork, then Ogden(who we had not lost to all year) then us, then Davis. It just shows how anything can happen in cross country. I could dwell on all the negatives about today. But Gandalf once said "all we have to do is decide what to do with the time we've been given us" and honestly (I'm nearly in tears writing this) I've had so many great experiences with this team, from going to California to compete at national level races, to being nationally ranked, to setting prs, and being 4 time region champs, and 3 time state champs, and 4 time region champs in track and 3 at state, but most importantly just having fun with my brothers who I love so much. These guys mean the world to me, and it's been a terrific three years. Also I wouldn't have met Alli P if I hadn't started running lol. I love you all

Hey! Good race man! You did so well! Are you not gonna go to footlocker?

@zack no, we are taking a 2 week break before we start rolling for track. We just need to get our minds off running for a while

Even tho we haven't known each other for a way long time I love ya to death dude haha and I totally know how you feel. I've cried a ton thinking about how much I love my team and the good times over the last 4 years. You're a boss man and you ran very well.

You did great - congrats. Team ran solid, too. I know you guys had higher goals, but in perspective of it all... you guys had another awesome season! Congrats.

From Glory in the long run on Thu, Nov 26, 2015 at 03:42:31 from 174.23.236.120

Gandalf's pretty wise. Great job. You didn't let your team down, all that can be expected of you is to run your best. While it's possible you could have run slightly slower and wiser the first mile and thus faster overall, you ran a great race, a PR is always the best.

Well done and I look forward to continuing to follow your progress.
