Race: Footlocker West Junior Race (3.107 Miles) 00:17:04, Place overall: 3

did a 2 mile warmup and some strides before i saddled up. my goal going into it was to win it. the gun went off and i got out right how i wanted to. i didn't get shuffled back like at nike, and i got out into about the top 30, which was good. hit the mile mark at about 5:06, it felt easy and i was about top 20 at that point. we hit the first hill and people started dropping like flies, i made sure i started creating gaps on the first hill, cuz it was killing everyone else. i caught goggles at the top of the hill, i was top 10 right there, and i got caught by 3 or so people coming down the hill. on the second hill, that was where the people i was gonna race with til the end came out. it was a mountain view kid in 1st, some california kid in 2nd, and me and a westlake kid were right with each other. coming up poopout i made sure to push it hard, and i kept closing the gap between me and 1st place. at the top of poopout, me and the westlake kid were duking it out, i made sure not to lose contact or i'd be bones. me and him kept pushing to the 2 mile mark, where i was at 10:57 and 3rd place. coming up reservoir, me and westlake were pushing even harder, and we were closing some of the gap between us and 1st. coming down reservoir, westlake pulld ahead a bit, and i tried to go with him. when we hit the flat, it was almost all out for me right there. i thought i could pass those next 3 guys, but i guess their all out was faster than mine. i hit the track and it was hurting, but it was all out from there, and the westlake kid beat me, but i passed the california kid right at the finish, putting me in third. not what i wanted, but i gave it my all. decent way to end an amazing season. goodbye fast running blog for 2 weeks!
