Today was the last day of my visit to SUU. Yesterday me and josh got there and we ended up staying at the house where some of the team sleeps at. We got there and played some card games with Josh Collins and shot nerf darts with needles in them at each other lol. Then we ate some donuts and watched kasey knevelbaard do like a million push-ups cuz he was trying to burn off the donut lol. Then we went to George's room and me and josh and Josh Collins and kasey just burned stuff it was fun lol. Then today we ate breakfast and lunch with coach limpf and took a tour of the campus. Then got home and ran 7 easy out to the boneyard.

Ran 5 easy to hidden valley for 3 and then the spectrum for 2. Hip groin whatever thing is still tight so I'll get another massage after the dirty hurty.

Afternoon was good. We had our mile time trial on the track. 2.5 warmup, drills, strides, 1600m, 2 mile cool down. It went well. Coach said go and Jaiden went straight to the lead, followed by Josh then me. Hit 400m in 1:07. Then I went around josh at about 450m and tried to catch up to Jaiden. 800m in 2:15. Third lap is always hardest but I made a lot of ground on Jaiden, he was about 2 secs ahead of me at this point. 3:24. I didn't finish as strong as I could have until the last 150m so that's something to work on. Crossed second to Jaiden in 4:31 which is a 3 second PR. I'd say it's pretty good considering the fastest paces we've hit so far this year were 1:07's, which is the average for what I ran today. Jaiden ran 4:28, I was 4:31, Josh was 4:32. So we all qualified for state lol good stuff from everyone today.

Ran 4 easy with kasey and Boston towards sunriver this morning.

6.5 total this afternoon. It was supposed to be like a moderate pace so not easy but not tempo.  Avg 6:41. Afterwards we had hardcore weights part 13.

Ran 3 easy to the spectrum this morning.

Couldn't do the challenge with the team today cuz they're doing it at 6:30 and I have a sterling scholar banquet at 7. Drove out to the Sullivan soccer park thing cuz I thought those trails out there weren't paved but it turns out they are so that kinda sucked. So I went the opposite way towards maverick from there. 6 easy.

Race: Dirty Hurty Trail Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:30:49, Place overall: 1

Today was a good start to spring break. I went into this race looking to redeem myself from last year. Steve said go and we went, me and Boston just ran behind the 50k guys so it was a really slow first little bit.

Mile 1: 7:54. Running behind the 50k guys, so they were going slower. Still good stuff, we just talked with coach and Hayden Hawks and these two park city trail dudes, and looked at the sunrise. it was pristine.

Mile 2: 8:07. Still behind the 50k dudes, super hilly. This isnt an easy course.

Mile 3: 7:53. Still chillin.

Mile 4: 7:57. Chillin in cedar rapids. The difference between this year and last year is that last year Josh and Kale went hard from the get go. We were way slow the first half.

Mile 5: 7:22. Pickin' it up.

Mile 6: 7:08.

Mile 7: 6:16. Started to come off the mountains and hills and down into the aid station. I used the restroom and ate a pb&j. Probably my saving grace cuz last year I didn't eat anything. When I finished eating, Boston, Kasey and Ginge had already started running about 3 minutes ago; they had like a half mile lead on me.

Mile 8: 6:12. tryin' to catch back up to the guys. race mode was kicking in, and it did for them too.

Mile 9: 5:49. Still pushin' up to them.

Mile 10: 5:53. At this point we were on the road, and it had flattened out a bit, but my legs were trashed from the downhills. Caught up to the guys here.

Mile 11: 7:13. Really feelin' it, plus there were 2 big hills on the road and then we hopped back onto the trails where it was more hilly there. Down to me and Boston at this point. This is where I started to push.

Mile 12: 6:33. Really trying to separate more from Boston. It worked.

Mile 13: 6:23. Finished in 1:30:49, first place overall. that was really good stuff from everyone today. Boston was an animal today.

After the race me and Boston ran 5 more miles to celebrate my 18 years of existence. Longest run I've ever done. Great start to spring break. 6:56 average for the race, 7:45 average for the whole 18.
